Sumo Balls - Mobile Online Multiplayer game
The Sumo Balls game was created at university for my final year project, to reflect skills obtained in the fields of game development and networking especially in client/server architecture. The game is built around the simple concept where two players compete against each other in the push out of arena contest in the physics-based environment. The game is enriched with the cards/abilities system which introduces active and passive abilities/cards to be used during a match to gain temporary advantage. For the implementation of the game, I used Unity game engine with the game’s backend integrated with the Game Sparks solution to implement features such as player authentication, matchmaking based on a player skill index or storing players’ data on cloud-based database. What is more, the game’s network side is moved entirely from the UNET (Unity net) to self-made client/server architecture which provides communication between clients and relay server.
